About Me

Hi my name is Lisa and I am a 42 yr old mom and soon to be grandma who has been on a journey to health and fitness since I was 18.   I really got serious when in 2005 I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia….after leaving the doctors office with a hand full of prescriptions I vowed I would find a better natural way to deal with my illness.  That road took me down a raw vegan diet as well as a cooked vegan diet way of eating. I don’t recommend those diets for anyone:(  Although I had energy and well being at the onset of these diets I realized a few months down the road that I was always tired and always hungry and craving meat.  I read that a tubal ligation after pregnancy could bring on fibromyalgia and my symptoms did get worse after I had the procedure after the birth of my son in 2002.  So I found a doctor in North carolina who did reversals and I flew there and had it done.  My Fibro symptoms were gone in a month.  But, after a year of eating crappy food my symptoms started to return mildly.  I was never able to lose weight and I finally stumbled on Marks Daily Apple and Robb Wolfs book ” The Paleo Solution” as well as Gary Taubes book ” Why we get  fat”.  A light bulb went off and I realized grain and sugar had alot to do with why I was sick, I also have to add my children struggled with digestive disorders as well.   My daughter is a tougher nut to crack since she no longer lives at home but, my son is 80% and his digestives problems disappeared after going mostly paleo.  I am still struggling with being 100% but, I feel great when I am and even 80% keeps me feeling good.  I also workout a few times a week…I feel that goes hand in hand with paleo/primal eating and results you want.  I started this blog to reach out to other 40 something women who are struggling like me to lose weight and eat right as well as keep their family on track.  I hope you join me on this journey and I would love to hear your stories:)
